E- Safety is a very important area of the curriculum for all pupils, as using a computer is such a vital part of everyday life now. So learning how to stay safe while using all the latest technology is paramount.Year 8 has completed a survey of the whole school to find out how much the pupils in each year group know about e-safety, and were surprised at some of the results. Year 8 created the questions for the questionnaire that was then set up online so all pupils had easy access to the survey. When the whole school had filled in the survey Year 8 then interrogated the results, using graphs and charts to create visual results of the findings. Below are some of those results:
- 3 pupils don’t know how old they have to be to be in chat rooms
- 4 pupils who use chat rooms have met up with someone online
- 74% of pupils do not have high security on their chat rooms
- 1 pupil has given out personal details
- 3 pupils have lied about lying about their age on line!!!!!
- 93.2% of pupils have a computer at home
- All year 8 pupils have a computer at home
- 6 pupils have had abusive emails
- 13.5% of pupils do not have a mobile phone
Year 8 used a program called “InspireData” to produce their results, and here are some of the graphs they created:
