When there is a frost in the winter months this is the time to harvest the turnip crop. Members of the Gardening Club were very proud of their crop. The turnips were cleaned so they could be eaten. There is nothing growing in the raised beds at the moment. Later we will empty the compost heap and spread it on the patches. This will be good fertiliser for our next crop.

The children of Year 5 have received letters from Old Earth Primary School. The children of the two schools have become pen pals. The introductory letters were replied to and so full contact had been made. Old Earth Primary School is in Elland in West Yorkshire. Year 5 located the school using Google maps and have been following the school’s web page. Just before Christmas we received some angel Christmas cards and in reply the children of Seahouses sent back New Year cards with information about themselves and what has been happening since their last correspondence.
In the summer the children of Old Earth will be visiting Seahouses on a field trip. We will get to meet our pen pals.
