The start of the new school year is always an exciting time as we look forward to working with our pupils to ensure they reach their potential and feel good about themselves. We continue to work hard to ensure that children of all abilities get a wide range of opportunities in all aspects of the curriculum.
As a Specialist School for Music and ICT we are able to provide our pupils with access to a wide range of up to date instruments and equipment which enable them to develop and improve their skills. Please encourage your child to make the most of these opportunities.
During the holidays we have had the Year 7 classroom refurbished so that it is a creative and pleasant learning environment which is equipped with a widescreen interactive whiteboard and individual laptop computers for each child. We used the Year 6 classroom which was refurbished last year as a model and hope to be able to refurbish our other class bases to the same standard in the future.
We are delighted to welcome Mr Brown to our staff team following Miss Midgley’s decision to leave us to become a full time foster carer.
Mr Brown has been working at John Spence High School in North Shields and he will teach Science to Year 7 & 8 as well as being the Year 8 class teacher. Other changes to our organisation see Miss Carr becoming the Year 5 class teacher, Mrs Patterson our ICT Coordinator going part time to two days a week and Mrs Monnelly who was the Year 8 class teacher will be teaching English to Years 5, 7 & 8. Mrs Haggerstone and Mrs Adamson remain as the Year 6 and 7 teachers respectively.
